Ciera Lowe, a graduating senior at Santa Susana High School in Simi Valley (Twelfth District PTA), and Vivian Lai, a graduating senior at Alameda Science and Technology Institute in Alameda (Peralta District PTA), were each presented their laptops at the 111th annual convention.
"HP is proud and excited to help support the California State PTA graduating senior scholarship program," said Manvir Sandhu, HP Director. "We extend our congratulations to these two terrific students and wish them all the best as they prepare for college in the fall."
Lowe plans to attend Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City, where she will major in engineering. Lai plans to attend the University of California, Los Angeles, in the fall and major in business and economics.
Both students were selected from among 135 students statewide - all of whom received a California State PTA Graduating Senior Scholarship for demonstrating outstanding school, community and PTA service. The association provided a total of $68,000 in scholarships to students this year. Applicants must be California residents, graduating from a high school in California with a PTA/PTSA unit in good standing, and must be a member of their high school PTA/PTSA.
"PTA is pleased to be able to provide so many scholarships to deserving students," said Wendy Hicks, chair of the California State PTA Scholarships and Grants Committee. "All of the students exemplify the spirit of community service."
